Celestial Eye Lesson

Welcome

I’m so happy you have joined me here today for this free soft pastel lesson. Eyes are fascinating to me and there is this magic moment when painting or drawing one that I love… when it gets its soul and I can then feel the energy of a piece shift once I’ve painted the eyes. I thought it would be fun to show you how I paint a celestial eye using soft pastel.

Lesson Supplies

If you were to ask me what supplies I felt would be the most important that I’ve listed, I would say using the PanPastels combined with the sanded pastel paper are key elements in having a positive experience. The PanPastels are highly pigmented, opaque and are a dream to work with. Combined with the sanded UART pastel paper it is like a beautiful romance, as together they really allow some incredible possibilities. I also understand that you might not be able to invest in all of the supplies at this time. I have tested out Jane Davenports Pastel Palettes and they hold up pretty well. The white is not as opaque, but you can still do a lot with them. She doesn’t include black in her palette so I also discovered that a soft charcoal pencil like from Generals works well.

  • PanPastel Colors: Ultra Marine Ex. Dark, Ultra Marine Shade, Ultra Marine, Ultra Marine Tint, Burnt Sienna Shade, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Sienna Tint, Raw Umber Tint.

  • Pastel Pencils: Derwent (199 Black), CarbOthello (390 Dark Blue, 700 Raw Umber) Something similar will work fine.

Thank You!
